Matevž Sterle (self-employed in culture, conservator-restorer, painter and video artist) was born on 11. 8. 1985 in Ljubljana. After graduating from the High School for Design and Photography, majoring in graphic designer, he entered Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. He graduated in restoration-conservation in 2014 and received a student Prešeren Award.
His field of work is painting, graphics, photography, video, and occasionally installations.

He is a sensitive author who is often touched and then creatively engaged by different states, situations or events. Artworks are symbolic, associative, metaphorical, indirectly imposed and expressive. He believes in meaningful value and social engagement of art work. "In his paintings you can see critical, committed artist, an author who knows his idea to express indirectly and wrap it in humor, even the serious topics, that are revealed through his critical thoughts. His artistic language is pervasive and instantaneous, as well as traditional. Committed to existence of an eternal classic medium of painting, its expression and creative allure, despite the prevalence of new media. Although he could be "classicist", he is not a conservative and his works are not in reproductive nature."¹

His work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, he attends creative camps and is creatively present in social media.
